The recruitment process typically takes between two weeks and a month. It will vary depending on when you are looking to start and your availability to attend assessment centre and interview.

Reed employ Graduates in a wider-range of positions across the Reed Family of Companies. The Reed Graduate Training Scheme has an annual intake of around 40 Graduates per year, although this is subject to change depending upon business need.

What would my first placement be?

All Graduates start their career with Reed in an operational role as either a Recruitment Consultant or Employment Adviser. At Reed this means a role where a large percentage of your time will be involved in interacting with clients and candidates or delivering one of Reed’s core services. This experience will give you a solid foundation to build a long-term career upon and will also help you develop a number of highly transferable sills. Please refer to Structure for more information.

Where would I be based?

We require candidates to be geographically flexible when applying to the Graduate Training Scheme, however, due to the size of our branch network we do endeavour to place candidates in their preferred geographical location for their first placement. The location of subsequent placements is determined by the direction you want your career to follow as certain teams are based in specific locations. For this reason we strongly encourage you to be flexible wherever possible.

What would my starting salary be?

Graduates receive a basic salary of £21,000 (£23,000 if London based) plus a joining bonus of £2,000. In addition to this many roles will allow you to earn a substantial bonus. As most Graduates undertake an operational role in their first year, this bonus is usually uncapped and is determined by performance.

What career development can I expect?

We offer our Graduates a wide-range of development opportunities during their time on the Graduate Training Scheme. This includes being assigned a senior manager as a Mentor, access to training courses through Reed Learning, sponsorship for professional qualifications and the opportunity to work across different areas of the business. For additional information please refer to The Scheme for more information

Can I study towards a professional qualification?

All Graduates are given the opportunity to chose from a wide-range of professional qualifications to study towards. Graduates have previously studied towards accredited membership of the CIPD (HR), CIM (Marketing) or CIMA and ACCA (Accountancy).

How long does the Graduate Training Scheme last?

The Graduate Training Scheme is a three year programme made up of three one-year placements. There is a degree of flexibility, however, so that Graduates can leave the programme early if they identify a suitable permanent role that is of interest to them.

What happens at the end of the scheme?

The vast majority of Graduate Trainees go on to secure a permanent position with Reed, although we are realistic enough to realise that not everyone will choose to do this. The position you can expect to secure at the end of your time on the Scheme will depend upon your career goals and your performance while on the Scheme.
