Process Overview
The recruitment process we use for the Graduate Training Scheme has been designed to be as swift and straightforward as possible. We feel it is important that the recruitment process gives you a thorough insight into what it would be like to work for Reed.
We are open to applications all year round and successful applicants join the scheme in either January or September. You can expect the recruitment process to take around four weeks from the time you submit your application to being offered a place on the scheme. We will then confirm exact details of your first placement within several weeks of your start date. Reed also actively encourage diversity across the business and so we accept applications from all graduates who meet our entry criteria, irrespective of when you graduated. Many of our graduates have had successful careers elsewhere before joining Reed, so if you meet the standard we’re looking for, we would be delighted to offer you a place on the scheme.
Stage 1 - Online Application Form
This is where we capture your personal details, give you an opportunity to explain why you are interested in working for Reed and what qualities you can bring to the business. Nobody likes to fill out overly long applications, so we only ask you for the information we really need in order to ensure you receive a fair assessment. You will also be asked to upload an up-to-date copy of your CV. Be sure to make your application stand out – take your time, check for spelling mistakes and describe why you think you’d be perfect for our Graduate Scheme.
Stage 2 - Psychometric Testing
If you successfully pass our initial screening we will invite you to sit some online psychometric tests. These include a numerical reasoning test followed by a verbal reasoning test. We have found a close link between performance in these tests and performance once in our organisation. We use very similar tests when making senior managerial appointments so we expect you to perform to an equally high standard. Do some practice ones first if you haven’t come across these before.
Please click here for further information on ability testing and practice tests.
Stage 3 - Assessment Centre
All Graduate Trainees in Reed must be capable of working in an operational role. To ensure this is something you would be successful in and enjoy, we ask you to attend the same assessment centre that all our Recruitment Consultants or Personal Advisers go through as part of their recruitment process. The assessment centre is comprised of 4 different exercises: 2 bespoke role-play exercises, an in-tray exercise and a group discussion. Full details of what to expect in the assessment centre will be provided to you before the event.
Stage 4 – Managing Director Interview
Once you have passed the assessment centre, you will progress to the final stage of the selection process - an interview with one of our Managing Directors. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with a senior level Director and obtain an insight into what it would be like to work for Reed. You could well be meeting with someone who was on the GTS themselves a few years ago!
If you are successful at this stage we will offer you a place on the GTS.
We are here to help through any stage of the process, so if you’re looking for advice then please call our Helpline on 0845 241 4931 or email reed.graduate@reedglobal.com
