Year 1 – You will start your career with Reed in an operational role. This means that you will be working as either:
- a Recruitment Consultant in one of our specialist recruitment offices
- a Telesales Executive for the UK's leading online job board
- an Employment Adviser working on welfare to work programmes
This experience will give you a solid foundation to build a long-term career upon and will also help you develop a number of highly transferable skills. It’s an opportunity to be innovative and creative along with the responsibility of helping to ensure your office is a success. It is an extremely rewarding role, both personally and financially, providing you with an insight into our core business and the opportunity to earn a substantial performance related bonus.
Year 2 – During your first 12 months, you may have decided a different Operating Company or role that you are interested in exploring. The second year of the scheme is an ideal opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge in this area, this will allow you to determine whether it is a direction you would like your long-term career to move in. Current graduates are working in a variety of our core support services, including Finance, HR, Marketing, Legal, Training and Development, Online, or even within one of our Charity offices.
Alternatively, you may have decided that you enjoy the buzz (and the bonuses!) from your 1st placement in recruitment so much that you’d like to build a career in your first role. This is also an option and we can offer a fast track progression through Operations where you could find yourself in a management position within a short period.
In addition, you will also usually begin studying towards a professional qualification at this stage (see the Training page above). This will typically complement the placement you are undertaking.
Year 3 – In your 2nd year, you will have the opportunity to undertake a new role in any part of the business, potentially even joining one of our international offices. By this point you will already have received two performance appraisals which will have established some long term objectives to help with your career.
As you come towards the end of your time on the GTS you should feel capable of taking on your first management role. For many GTS members this will mean moving back to an operational part of the business, possibly even the branch where they undertook their first placement. In order to ensure you are well-prepared for this you will receive comprehensive management training and be invited onto our Management Academy.
